The Inaugural Annual Report of the National Council for Reconciliation (Council) comes at a decisive moment,
11 years after the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC) issued its Final Report and one year into the
Council’s mandate. It finds a reconciliation landscape where federal activity has increased, but First Nations, Inuit, and
Métis Peoples are still living with the harms of systems that have not fundamentally changed. The Council calls for urgent,
sustained action to close outcome gaps and rebuild public trust in reconciliation efforts.
